From New York to Nepal, dancers from all over the world gathered at 22nd Street and Fifth Avenue to dance their way down Broadway to its final stop—Tompkins Square Park where Dancefest was in full effect.
It’s a rare treat to see dancers from all over the world showcasing their dance styles in one location- for free! Currently in its 4th year, participants came as far as India and Korea
featuring dances like hip-hop, the Salsa, and the Waltz. You also got the chance to witness or participate in one of the biggest Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance displays ever.
According to organizers, the objective is to “ promote dance as an expressive and unifying art form by showcasing all forms of dance, educating the general public about the opportunities to experience dance, and celebrating diversity of dance in New York City by sponsoring a yearly city-wide dance parade and dance festival.” If you missed the Dance Parade this year you certainly don’t want to miss it next year. So get you dancing shoes out and “let’s dance.”
